first_imgJob DescriptionOur group and collaborators conduct water and health focusedresearch internationally and domestically, with a regional focus onrural and peri-urban areas across China, and low-income areas inthe Appalachian region of the USA. Additional information can befound on our group’s research website( and ourBerkeley/China/Virginia-Tech Program for Water & Health website( selected candidate will have a central role working on recentlycompleted, ongoing, and planned projects, including a:• Randomized controlled trial evaluating a safe water interventionin China;• COVID-19 Wastewater Surveillance and Epidemiology project;• Study of water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) in rural Chinesehospitals;• Study on drinking water contamination and health outcomes inAppalachia (USA).The selected candidate will have opportunities to prepare andsubmit first-authored articles for publication in peer-reviewedjournals, and will also have the opportunity to develop one or morenew research projects in consultation with the PI andcollaborators.In summary, key responsibilities for the Postdoctoral Researcherinclude:• Taking a lead role in the organization, management, and analysisof data from multiple projects• Preparing tables, figures, annotated code, and other dataanalysis outputs for presentations and submissions to peer-reviewedjournals• Working with the PI to conceptualize, design, and plan one ormore new research projects• Assisting with the management of data collection for field-basedprojects (which will include limited domestic travel, and thepossibility for some international travel)• Assisting with the mentorship of some students in the groupThe selected candidate will also be provided time to pursue theirown research and professional goals, as well as opportunities toengage in limited teaching activities if desired. Funding will alsobe available to support travel to conferences and research-relatedmeetings.Our work is highly collaborative and interdisciplinary in nature,so the selected candidate will have opportunities to engage withVirginia Tech colleagues in Environmental Engineering, BiologicalSystems Engineering, the Global Change Center, and others, as wellas with collaborators at the University of California, Berkeley,the Chinese Center for Disease Control & Prevention (ChinaCDC), and the Virginia Department of Health.Please provide a Research Statement, Diversity Statement, andsample of publications if applicable.Required Qualifications• PhD (or equivalent degree) in environmental health, epidemiology,biostatistics, statistics, or a related field.
