Smith-Brown, 21, is a product of the Manchester City youth academy, having joined at the age of 10 and has represented England at various youth levels. He spent last season on loan to Dutch side NAC Breda and helped them win promotion back to the Eresdivisie. The due are Hearts coach Ian Cathro’s fifth and sixth summer signings respectively. They follow Kyle Lafferty, Cole Stockton, Christophe Berra and Rafal Grzelak in joining the Tynecastle squad for next season. Hearts have made two defensive signings, securing the signature of defender Michael Smith from Peterborough United and Ashley Smith-Brown on loan from Manchester City.Right back Smith has agreed a two-year deal at Tynecastle, subject to international clearance, and Hearts have paid a nominal fee to the League One club.Left back Smith-Brown joins from the English Premier League for the 2017/18 campaign, also subject to international clearance. Smith, 28, earned his first Northern Ireland cap last year. He began his senior career at Ballymena United before moving to Bristol Rovers in 2011. He went on to make more than 100 appearances for Rovers before moving to Peterborough in 2014.
